Junior Nation Needs a Reality Check

Junior Nation is in despair. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is having the worst season of his career and his fans want answers.

Their suspicions that something is awry at Hendrick Motorsports were recently inflamed after comments made by Tony Gibson.

Gibson, former crew chief for Jr. in 2007, doesn’t believe Earnhardt is getting what he needs at HMS and called for a major team overhaul. He recently spoke with ESPN reporter David Newton and expressed his concerns.

“It’s going to have to be the right situation and the right group of guys who believe in him,” Gibson said. “Give Dale Jr. what Dale Jr. wants, what he needs to drive the race car, and he’ll be fine.” Continue reading →

Dale Earnhardt Jr. – The Season that Will Never End

NASCAR television ratings are down, race attendance is down and fans are tuning out. The reason why is obvious.

Fan favorite Dale Earnhardt Jr. is having the worst season of his driving career. His frustration is palpable and the look on his face says it all.

On Friday afternoon at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, he finally revealed how difficult this season has been.

“I’m about to the end of my rope on it. I’ve been riding it out, but there comes a point where you don’t want to ride it out no more. You’ve just had enough.”

One day later, Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick commented on the trials of the 88 team and interim Crew Chief, Lance McGrew. For the moment, he seems content to keep the status quo and hold off on making any further changes. Continue reading →
