Although it hasn’t been confirmed, most sources indicate that Danica Patrick will be testing the waters in NASCAR In 2010 during her off weekends with IRL.  While Tony Stewart will serve as her mentor, one of the various scenarios has her partnering with JR Motorsports for a few Nationwide rides. KHI has also been mentioned as a potential partner and she may venture into ARCA as well.

I know that she’s serious about it,” Stewart said Saturday before Sprint Cup practice at Atlanta Motor Speedway.  “She looked me straight in the eye and said, ‘This is what I want to do. It looks like a lot of work, but it looks like fun.’ I don’t think she has some misguided idea that it’s going to be easy. She wants to do it the right way. She’s come to us to see about how she should go about it.”

The most intriguing aspect of all the speculation is the potential combination of NASCAR’s most popular driver Dale Jr. and one of IRL’s most talked about drivers, Danica Patrick.  The media frenzy that would ensue as a result of this partnership would almost certainly guarantee increased interest and revenue for NASCAR, something the sport desperately needs.

Earnhardt’s comments to Eli Gold on NASCAR Live make this scenario a very real possibility.

“We’re definitely interested in looking at opportunities for her in the near future. I would consider myself pretty good friends with Danica and having worked with Go Daddy which is potentially the company that will be behind her coming into the sport, we would really enjoy being a part of her experience in NASCAR.”

Whether her foray into NASCAR will be a success for Danica is something only time will tell. For NASCAR, it will be a golden opportunity.
